Rob Huff's new race team to enter TCR UK championship

Teamwork Huff Motorsport to enter new British championship

Rob Huff will have new responsibilities in 2019, as in addition to his challenge for the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup title, the 2012 world champion has linked up with Teamwork Motorsport to launch Teamwork Huff Motorsport, with the team entering the full season of the TCR UK Touring Car Championship.

Huff has worked with the Hong Kong-based operation since 2013, guiding the team during their entries in the Macau Touring Car Cup, most recently helping them to develop enhancements to their race cars, including their nearly scratch-built, all-wheel drive Audi TT-RS.

The team have also worked as technical consultants to the SAIC VW333 Racing team in the China Touring Car Championship, with Huff being drafted in as their international star, almost winning the 2017 title despite competing in only half the races, before he was stood down before the final round.

Huff drove one of the team's Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs at the opening round of the TCR Malaysia championship at Sepang in January as a one-off data gathering exercise for this year's WTCR season finale, and will now work with the team in a formal capacity, adding his name to the team and working with the team's engineers and drivers to ensure the best results possible during the course of their TCR UK championship challenge.

Rob Huff said:

"I've been working with the Teamwork guys for years, and now with Teamwork Huff Motorsport, it's great to be trying my hand at something else.

"I've spent a lot of time in China with the guys, guiding their progress, and now it'll be something different to work with them in the UK, and not only work with them on how to get the best out of the car, but do that at some of the circuits where I grew up racing.

"It'll be a great experience, and also to have my name on a race team, working with some top drivers as we try our best to do well in the TCR UK championship, will be an exciting and fun new challenge."

Marcello Lotti, president of WSC Group, TCR global promoter, said:

“It’s great that a successful team such as Teamwork Motorsport chose TCR UK for its debut season outside of Asia. And we are delighted that Rob Huff is involved in the team's management.

"Rob has always been one of TCR's most enthusiastic supporters since the inception of the concept. And more than that, he’s a good friend of mine. So it is with great pleasure that we welcome him in the TCR family in his new capacity.

"We wish him to achieve at least the same success with the team as he's having as a driver.”
