Podium on the cards for Macau master Rob Huff after tense qualifying

Macau master, Rob Huff, squeezed the maximum from his LADA Granta Sport and pushed the limits of the tight and twisty Circuito da Guia street track to qualify eighth and third for Rounds 23 and 24 of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) respectively (15 November).

The former World Champion once again showed considerable prowess and a natural affinity for the 3.57mile inner-city track, using pure intuition and judgement to thread his TC1-spec LADA Granta Sport between the unforgiving barriers, an ever-present threat, always ready and waiting to claim their next victim.

Huff, backed by Iconic Bet – a new, innovative online gaming site that combines online casino games and sports betting with financial markets – comfortably made it out of a truncated Q1 session.

The field scrambled for track position as the critical second phase of qualifying got underway and Huff placed himself perfectly in the wake of four rivals, a slipstream negating his LADA Granta Sport’s speed deficiency through the ultra-fast first sector of the lap.

Huff appeared to be in perfect harmony with his car on the Circuito da Guia – the ‘Monaco of the East’ – navigating his way to the eighth-fastest time in the 15-minute Q2 session to secure third position on the Round 24 grid.

Macau maestro Huff, who has six wins to his name and holds the record as the most successful driver on the Circuito da Guia, was delighted with his work and praised his LADA Granta Sport, saying: "The car is really nice to drive around here, as it gives me the confidence to push as hard as I can and has a great balance. We have the result to show for it, I am looking forward to the races, as always, and am excited at the prospect of a good finish on this amazing track."

Rounds 23 and 24 of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) will take place in quick succession at 3.00 and 4.00 (GMT) and will be broadcast live and in high definition on Eurosport.
