Huff joins WestCoast Racing for TCR finale intending to extend Macau wins record
Rob Huff is set to return to Macau, having signed to race a JAS Motorsport-prepared Honda Civic in the final round of the 2015 TCR International Series (19-20 November) with the title-contending WestCoast Racing team.
As one of the greatest touring car racers of his generation and the undisputed ‘King of Macau’, Huff will endeavour to extend his race wins record on the iconic and daunting Circuito da Guia when he makes his debut in the newly-inaugurated TCR International Series.
The 2012 FIA World Touring Car Champion has spectacularly achieved no fewer than seven race wins in the former Portuguese dominion over the course of a decade at the pinnacle of international touring car racing and will likely have a shot at increasing his tally to nine with a potent JAS Motorsport-prepared Honda Civic TCR.
This unexpected and mouth-watering opportunity to return to the iconic, yet daunting Guia street circuit arose through the re-scheduling of the WTCC finale in Qatar (26-27 November).
As soon as the announcement was made, Huff was in high demand for the season-ending Macau Grand Prix, but chose what he considered to be the strongest package and he is excited about the prospect of dovetailing his LADA SPORT ROSNEFT commitments in the WTCC with this one-off TCR appearance alongside his touring car protégé, Kevin Gleason.
“Macau’s Circuito da Guia street track is quite simply the most challenging race circuit I’ve ever raced on and my record is strong there,” said Huff. “I’m really pleased to have been invited by JAS Motorsport and WestCoast Racing to drive the Honda Civic in the TCR International Series finale there and I am confident we will have a competitive package for this truly unique event.
“It also serves as a great opportunity to team up with and compete against my young protégé, Kevin Gleason, who has emerged as a race winner in the inaugural season of the TCR International Series with WestCoast Racing and, while it will be a lot of fun, I’ll certainly be trying to get more Macau wins!”
