Huff begins Newmarket partnership in style at July Festival
Reigning FIA World Touring Car Champion, Rob Huff, commenced his role as Ambassador of Newmarket Racecourses in style at last week’s Piper Hiedsieck July Festival (11-13 July).
Huff, a long-term resident of the historic Suffolk market town of Newmarket, attended all three days of the glittering July Festival, famed for combining superior style with spellbinding horse racing.
The 32-year old was responsible for judging the ‘Best Dressed Male’ during Abu Dhabi Gentlemen’s Day on Friday (12 July) and presented the winner – fellow Newmarket resident, Gareth Godfrey – with his prize (pictured).
In addition, Huff made multiple star appearances on Channel 4 Racing’s extensive coverage of the event. These included a live interview on The Morning Line programme (Saturday 13 July) about his newly-formed relationship with Newmarket Racecourses and his own career in the WTCC – the pinnacle of international touring car racing.
“I had a fantastic time at the Piper Hiedsieck July Festival – it was the perfect way of initiating my relationship with Newmarket Racecourses,” said an enthused Huff. “The racing was enthralling and the atmosphere electric, creating a spectacular and memorable show – that’s why Newmarket is regarded as ‘The Home of Racing’.
“It was a true honour to judge the ‘Best Dressed Male’ on Abu Dhabi Gentlemen’s Day too. Everyone looked dapper on the day, making the decision agonisingly difficult. However, Gareth stood out from the crowd and I think it’s particularly fitting that he should win the award, given that he’s a Newmarket resident.”
Huff is currently vying to defend his coveted WTCC crown with the ALL-INKL.COM Munnich Motorsport team and will soon head to Argentina’s Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo for Rounds 15 and 16 of the 2013 season in a fortnight’s time (3-4 August).
