Huff adds horsepower with Newmarket Racecourses partnership
Reigning FIA World Touring Car Champiom, Rob Huff, is delighted to announce a unique and exciting partnership with Newmarket Racecourses.
As a resident of the picturesque Suffolk town of Newmarket and a lifelong horseracing enthusiast, Huff’s affiliation with the world-renowned racecourses is a fitting one.
Huff, aged 32, has been competing at the pinnacle of international touring car racing since the WTCC’s inception in 2005. He achieved no fewer than 21 race victories during his seven-year term with the works Chevrolet team, as he inexorably rose towards the ultimate prize – the 2012 World Touring Car Championship.
As he bids to defend his title with the ALL-INKL.COM Munnich Motorsport team, the amiable British racer takes on an esteemed ambassadorial role that will bring together the glamorous and adrenaline-fuelled worlds of international motorsport and horse racing.
Newmarket’s two magical race courses, The Rowley Mile and The July Course, form the greatest venue in the East of England. The exhilaration of world-class racing, pulsating music nights, great value family days and award-winning restaurants combine to make Newmarket ‘The Home of Racing’.
The spring and autumn months encompass no fewer than 16 major events, run on the most historic stretch of equine turf on the globe; from the Piper-Heidsieck July Festival (11-13 July), to the adrenaline-pumping Dubai Future Champions Day (12 October), all boast an electrifying atmosphere.
Furthermore, the Adnams Newmarket Nights concerts, held during the months of July and August, feature top-line artists such as Labrinth and Meat Loaf and bring horse racing into the 21st Century.
As Ambassador, Huff’s responsibilities will include a number of public engagements on behalf of the Newmarket Racecourses during the course of the year.
The relationship endeavours to promote Newmarket to motorsport fans from across the globe and introduce a younger, more vibrant and diverse audience to world-class equine sport.
Similarly, the partnership will promote Huff’s full-time programme in the ultra-competitive WTCC and his participation in other top-line motorsport events around the world, such as the evocative Goodwood Revival in September.
Amy Starkey, regional director - East of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “We are thrilled that Rob Huff has agreed to become an official 'Ambassador' for Newmarket Racecourses. Our sports operate with very different kinds of horsepower, but each is exhilarating and pulse-rising. We are also delighted that Rob will be joining us as a guest judge on Abu Dhabi Gentlemen's Day, which is the second day of the Piper-Heidsieck July Festival, on Cambridgeshire Day in September and on Dubai Future Champions Day in October when his fans will be able to meet him.”
Huff added: “I’m absolutely delighted to be involved with Newmarket Racecourses. It’s a real honour to be an Ambassador for such a historic venue. In fact, there’s nothing better than forging a partnership with something you truly enjoy and I’m looking forward to promoting Newmarket Racecourse on my travels around the world with the WTCC.”
